The Golden Movies Ambassadors Association of Nigeria (TGMAAN) , an association of Nollywood movie makers with the vision of rebuilding, rebranding and restructuring of the Nigerian Film Industry recently issued a communiqué to its members in reaction to the message of the Inspector General of Police about the illegal possession and negative usage of the police uniforms and accessories in skits and dramas.
TGMAAN in a recent meeting of its National Executive Council issued a statement to its members to seek the necessary permits from the appropriate authorities to use police uniforms, the President of the association, Ambassador Saidi Balogun said the association is planning to have a meeting with the Lagos state Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alabi as there is already an ongoing conversation around collaboration and provision of ease of access to the film industry by the Nigeria Police Force.
Dr. Joke Muyiwa, the Treasurer of the association and a Theatre scholar says that filmmakers can also go abstract in creating their own fictional Police which does not have to realistically portray the Nigerian Police. While another member of the association who is a veteran actor, Ambassador Yemi  Solade agrees that seeking permit to use police uniforms is a welcome development as a result of the spate of insecurity in the nation, as this will help the police to reduce proliferation of uniforms and police impostor induced crimes.
